GAINESVILLE (June 5) – Record-setting junior Caitlyn Wurzburger of American Heritage School of Delray has been named the 2019 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Lacrosse.
After becoming the first player in U.S. prep lacrosse history to record both 100 or more goals and assists in a season as an eighth grader in 2016, Wurzburger managed to accomplish the feat for the fourth straight year, scoring 104 goals and adding 105 assists in leading her team to the state Final Four.
Wurzburger, a three-time All-America, is the first three-time winner of the Miss Lacrosse award and has committed to play college lacrosse at the University of North Carolina. In four seasons of varsity play, Wurzburger has tallied 406 goals and 429 assists, setting a national record for career points scored.
Chris Robinson was named Girls’ Lacrosse Coach-of-the-Year after leading Lake Highland Prep to a 23-2 record and the state championship in his first year as head coach at the school.
The Florida Dairy Farmers Sports Awards program exemplifies Florida Dairy Farmers’ commitment to the state’s youth. This is the 27th year of these unique awards as we honor the state’s top athletes and coaches in all 30 sanctioned and recognized FHSAA sports. The program also emphasizes to young people the importance of keeping dairy products a primary part of their diet in their overall nutrition plan.
