Vero Alum Abby Shields Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week

Greenville, S.C. – Furman junior Abby Shields has been named the SoCon Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office. The nod is Shields’ second of the season.

The junior from Vero Beach, Fla., tallied seven points on Saturday, tying a career-high with five goals and adding two assists. Shields leads the Paladins in goals (13), assists (10), and points (23) on the year, and ranks in the top-ten in the SoCon in both goals and assists. Shields also added a ground ball and a draw control on Saturday, while converting on 1-of-2 free position attempts.

The Paladins are back in action on Thursday, March 29, opening a two-game homestand against Jacksonville and Stetson, respectively.
