FORT MYERS, FL – September 11, 2018 – Announced by Bishop Verot Catholic High School Athletic Director Jason Baumgardner on Friday, seasoned coach and former collegiate player Tony Ventiquattro has been tabbed as head coach for the boys’ lacrosse team. He will be joined on staff by his father, Hall of Famer Kirk Ventiquattro, who has been named assistant coach.

“We’re excited to have the Ventiquattro family heading up our boys’ lacrosse program,” Baumgardner said. “Tony and Kirk’s background, leadership and respect they’ve earned from their peers in the sport will raise the bar for boys’ lacrosse in Southwest Florida.”

Tony Ventiquattro has spent more than 15 years working in lacrosse of all levels. A high school All-American for Carthage (N.Y.) High School, he played collegiately at the University of Massachusetts and SUNY Cortland. He’s developed and coached high school programs, club teams and made his mark internationally as a catalyst for the Israeli National Team and the Philippines National Team.

Most recently, Tony served as Associate Head Coach for the Philippines National Team at the 2018 FIL World Championships in Netanya, Israel. The nation won its first ever international game and ended the tournament with four wins over ranked teams and a No. 10 world ranking.

Kirk Ventiquattro, a member of the Upstate Chapter of the Lacrosse Hall of Fame and a 14-time Frontier League Coach of the Year, joins the Vikings after more than 30 years combined at Carthage High School and Carthage Central School District. A four-time presenter at the U.S. Lacrosse National Coaches’ Convention, the elder Ventiquattro coached the Carthage Comets to 24 league titles, six sectional titles and three Upstate titles.

An advocate and fundraiser for prostate cancer, Kirk has guided more than 200 players to the collegiate ranks, including Ryan, Casey and Mike Powell, Josh and Jason Coffman, and his own sons, Tony and Mario.

The Vikings went 8-8 in 2018, earning a district runner-up title.
