Shown above at the 2014 FLN All-Star game (coming back next year - maybe) at FAU, from left to right, Boca Raton's Harrison Rodormer (played football at Jacksonville), Jupiter's Braylen Sampson (Bryant),  and Benjamin's Anthony Cicio (FSU, who doubled as our inside writer for the Seminoles),  McKenna Johnston (Washington and Lee) and Jerry O'Connor of Yale. Below is all sorts of good information for the Floridian lax junkie... For the first time, there are Floridians on all of the men's Final Four D1 teams, how about that?!!! In addition, St. Leo's appearance on the big stage in the DII championship game Sunday marks the first by a  Sunshine State Conference team and the 11 Floridians on the roster .  The women's DII championship game has already been played, with our Florida Souther

Thanks to the success of the Belen Jesuit and Gulliver Prep programs, and the early afternoon schedule, this author (actually photographer) has had the opportunity to see first hand the growth of our sport in Miami-Dade County.  Gulliver has historically competed at the highest level in Florida and many graduates have continued to play in college.  Coach Jim Piggot, now in his tenth year, is one of FLN's favorites, and a very little known fact is he was an early tweeter of play-off games for our site. Across town, former St. Andrew's assistant coach Alan Bellando took the helm of Belen five years ago and has steadily improved the program each year, reaching its first FHSAA Elite Eight appearance with a convincing win yesterday over Gulliver.   Sound pretty good?  Sure, but this team saw

Tuesday night in a game which looked and felt like a replay of Friday's Oxbridge win over Bishop Moore, the visiting St. Andrew's Scots took a 3-2 lead into the second half as both defenses were dominant.  The third quarter ended with the Thunderwolves leading 4-3 and the fourth started with SA man up.  No, SA did not tie it up as Oxbridge stopped the attempt and went on to win 8-5.  As the score shows, most of the game was very even and if these two meet again, it will be a dogfight.  Oxbridge continues it's tough early season schedule Friday, hosting defending state champion and number 1 ranked St. Thomas Aquinas.  Must see lax! Scoring: Oxbridge James Dorsey 1,0; Connor Davies 2,2; Bennet Bowers 1,0; Jack Kilian 2,1; Blake Jerd 2,0 Oxbridge Saves Christian Tomei 7

They won’t make or break the recruiting process (re

The History of Lacrosse – SU’s Documentary on the Sport

Celebrating The Game, Florida Lacrosse News, New For Parents, Parent's Corner, Youth/Club
This video was created in the 2012-13 academic year by the Syracuse University School of Sports Management and I would suggest every parent and child who is thinking of playing this sport or has already started, will find this an excellent introduction to the sport.  This sport has a very different history to other team sports in North America.  not only is it the oldest sport in this continent but it's significance extended far beyond being just a sport. This film will take you through that history so the parent and child can understand what exactly you are getting into from that standpoint.  The film takes less than an hour.  This was played on ESPN when it first debuted.
