2018 IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll – April 2, 2018
Stony Brook University (9-0) collected 22 first-place votes to remain on top of the IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll this week. Maryland (10-1) is ranked second, Boston College (13-0) is third, James Madison (9-1) is fourth, and North Carolina (8-3) sits in fifth. Virginia (8-3) and Florida (8-3) each moved up a spot to sixth and seventh, while Northwestern (9-3) jumped four spots to land at number eight. Loyola (8-2) and Towson (8-2) held on to their rankings to round out the top ten. The rest of the teams ranked in the poll remained largely unchanged, with some minor movement in positioning, resulting in Georgetown (6-4) dropping out of the rankings, but still receiving votes.
This week’s Top-25 action kicks off on Tuesday, when top-ranked Stony Brook hosts #23 Cornell. Games on Wednesday include #22 Denver against Georgetown (RV), and Virginia (#6) at #2 Maryland, while on Thursday, ninth ranked Loyola hosts #14 Syracuse. The weekend’s action gets started on Friday, when #16 USC travels to #18 Colorado, then continues with these Saturday contests: #3 Boston College at Duke (#15); Loyola at #12 Navy; Penn State (#19) at Virginia (#6); and Syracuse at #17 Virginia Tech. Notre Dame (#21) at #8 Northwestern is the only Top-25 game on Sunday.
2018 IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll – April 2, 2018
Florida Southern (12-0) again leads the way in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, grabbing 23 of 25 first place votes. There was little movement in the top ten spots, and the top five remained exactly the same this week: Adelphi (9-1) sits in second, Lindenwood (12-0) is third, followed by Le Moyne (9-0) and Florida Tech (10-1). Indianapolis (6-3) dropped out of the top 10 to land at #15 after suffering two losses last week, allowing Pace (6-3) to enter the top-10 for the first time this season at #10. LIU Post (7-2) and Limestone (9-2) held on at numbers six and seven, while Rollins (11-2) and Mercy (8-1) moved up a spot to land in eighth and ninth. Tiffin (7-3) returns to the poll at #25, while Queens (5-7) drops out of the rankings, but is still receiving votes.
New Haven (#18) hosts #10 Pace, and Mercy (#9) travels to #17 New York Tech on Tuesday to kick off the week’s slate of Top-25 games. Wednesday’s action includes Lock Haven (#24) at East Stroudsburg (#20), Assumption (#23) at #4 Le Moyne, top-ranked Florida Southern at #8 Rollins, and #5 Florida Tech at #16 Tampa. The weekend’s games between raked opponents include: East Stroudsburg against #21 Indiana (PA), Florida Tech against Rollins, #6 LIU Post versus Adelphi (#2), and Mercyhurst (#19) at Lock Haven.
