Delray Lacrosse & Leadership Helps With Annual Heroes & Helpers Event!

Thanks to Paul Kaneb for the submission!

On December 16th, Delray Lacrosse & Leadership (DLL) in association with Delray Citizens for Delray Police held their annual Heroes & Helpers event at the Target in Delray Beach. Forty families were treated to breakfast & then a take-home turkey dinner while each of the children in the DLL program received a gift card so they could purchase Christmas presents with the assistance of a police or fire department officer.

Detective Adrian Rackauskas helped organize the event.  He said “Christmas is about the kids. Delray Lacrosse & Leadership is helping these kids in our community. It’s great to have them interact with our law and fire personnel.”  Jeff Goldberg, director of lacrosse for DLL, went on to say “we’re expanding our program to include kids not only from Pine Grove Elementary but also Village Academy.   We are fortunate to have the opportunity to positively affect these kid’s lives.”

Delray Lacrosse & Leadership is a non-profit, education based development & mentoring program for at-risk youth in Delray Beach.  We’d also like to acknowledge, Pine Grove Elementary School, Village Academy, Chik-Fil-A, Target Stores, the Achievement Center for Children & Families, the city of Delray Beach and the Delray Beach Police Dept and the Delray Beach Fire Dept for their continued support.” To learn more about their program, please go to www.delraybeachlacrosseandleadership.org.
