UF: #10 Gators Continue Road Stretch with Mercer Matchup

MACON, Ga. – The 10th-ranked Florida lacrosse team (6-4, 0-0 AAC) continues its road stretch with a trip to Macon, Ga. to take on the Mercer Bears (5-2, 1-0 Big South) on Wednesday.
Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. at Five Star Stadium.

The Gators and the Bears are meeting for the second time in program history, with Florida holding the 1-0 series advantage. UF topped Mercer 23-5 in the First Round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament in Gainesville, Fla.
In its last contest, Florida toppled Arizona State 21-10 in Tempe, Ariz., while Mercer defeated Stetson 22-12 on Sunday.
Scouting the Bears
- Mercer currently sits at 5-2 in the 2022 campaign, with wins over Oregon, Kennesaw State, UMass Lowell, Presbyterian and Stetson
- Florida holds the 1-0 series advantage after the Gators topped Mercer 23-5 in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament
- Through the first seven games of the season, Hailey Rhatigan (31g, 8a), Chloe Schaffer (19g, 8a), Shannon Urey (18g, 4a) and Erin Degnan (12g, 4a) are leading the way offensively
- Degnan, Kayla Soltys, Kileigh Casey and Abby Soltys are leading the way in the draw circle for Mercer, posting 26, 25, 16 and 12 draws, respectively
- On the defensive end, Emma Pizzo and Ainsley Malamala have each caused eight turnovers through the first seven games
- Iseabal Cryne is seeing a majority of minutes in the cage for Mercer, posting 51 saves with a .405 save percentage in her 340:31. Kate Vanderlinde has also recorded 11 saves with a .478 save percentage in her four games played
