via Sportico.com  PREMIER LACROSSE LEAGUE MERGING WITH MAJOR LEAGUE LACROSSE TO UNIFY OUTDOOR GAME by Scott Soshnick Excerpt:The Premier Lacrosse League’s launch in 2019 prompted many associated with the sport to ask whether there was enough support from financial linchpins like sponsors and ticket-buying fans to sustain two outdoor leagues. The answer, it seems, is no.To that end, the PLL and Major League Lacrosse, founded about two decades ago, are merging. The move consolidates outdoor lacrosse into a single entity that will operate under the banner of the Premier Lacrosse League, whose financial backers include billionaire Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai, The Raine Group and Creative Artists Agency.Co-founded by lacrosse star Paul Rabil and...

Two stories from Florida bred players that occurred during our hiatus.  One started well and one ended well.High Point graduate Griff Caligiuri joined a select few Florida products by being drafted by the Boston Cannons in the recent MLL College Draft.  Unfortunately, Griff does not appear on the final roster for the 8-day tournament (he is the only defender on the 5-person reserve list, so there is a possibility he gets the call), which worked against him, since experience seemed to be in bigger demand among MLL rosters for this format.  My past history of covering the league would have indicated that Griff would have likely gotten more consideration and a likely roster spot at some point in a normal calendar season, as most college draftees do.  I hope he circles back to the league nex...

Author's Note:  Here's an update on what has happened since the MLL made the decision to suspend operations for the Launch, the Ohio machine and the Charlotte Hounds.  We all hope a potential owner will step up and bring MLL back to the area.  I have not heard any indications at this point that South Florida is anywhere on the radar for the new PLL.  If this turns out to be it for the long run, there's PLENTY of people I need to acknowledge and thank for their efforts over the years.  I will probably miss a few and apologize for that in advance.Brian Clinton always had my back on doing what I needed to do.  Heather Huntemann was just as helpful over the years and always fun to talk to.  The rest of the front office staff never hesitated to help FLN do their jobs.  I'll miss tal...
