Game Recap of John I Leonard’s First Win!

Author's Note:  It was two years ago that in one of my preseason articles I asked the John I Leonard administration to either get serious about the resources and interest for the sport or to shut the program down since it wasn't fair to anyone what was going on. Thankfully they took the former. Coach Peters deserves a lot of credit for taking this over and getting his kids to start believing.  They also got the schedule right for the place the program is in now.  Now that the first one is behind them, and the team understands what hard work can bring, look for more wins this year!  A couple of years ago I got on the Immokalee bandwagon and now we can also get on the JIL bandwagon! Good luck the rest of the year and welcome to starting a WINNING streak!     ...

Saint John Paul II Cruises Past Jensen Beach 20-4 in Opener for Each

Since the Stoneman - Saint Andrew's game was postponed I needed to fill a need to see a game and get my mind in gear for the season and thought this would be an interesting matchup since both of these programs have experienced both success and rebuilding in the past few years.  What I found last night was two teams going about that rebuild at very different stages.  Coach Andy Bolger's SJP II team has gone through their growing pains and has an experienced team ready for a long-desired District championship while Coach Brent Mahieu's Jensen Beach squad is facing the daunting task of fielding a very young team, that showed last night that they will need to work hard, as this will be a year of looking for improvement in all facets of the game. There's really not a lot to suspens...

Wells’ Article On Stoneman’s First Practice Last Night in the Sun-Sentinel

Author's Note - Wells and I went over to Calvary Christian Monday night to witness the first practice of the Stoneman Douglas Boys team . . . and frankly in my case, to get a respite from the bad news of the week's events.  Early in the practice you could see the kids were having some issues with concentration, and that's to be expected, as they sort of balance that line between being potentially a little guilty about being out there versus knowing that a season was starting and work needed to be done. As time went on the team got more focused and you could sense a palpable sense of relief at being able to do something that felt normal.  The spirit started to raise some and the familiar feel of routine being modified by some fun started to seep through.  Not even the brief dow...

I've listed all the teams that are playing at the Varsity level this season by their District Assignment. Some schools have opted to go back to Independent status for the season and will not compete for an FHSAA berth while some other schools have made the leap to a District. You will notice that Districts 14-17 are not included here.  TampaLaxReport.Com has asked to preview those and I will link to their previews while I do these in numerical order. You will see in this list the school name, the Head Coach and whether I have already received back the completed Preview Questionnaire.  I will update this daily and I suggest if you see your Coach has not yet returned it ask them to do so!  With some of the recipients, the possibility of the Questionnaire being caught in th...

After following the process for a few months now FLN can confirm that it is highly likely Boca Raton High will be chosen to host the FHSAA Final Four, in conjunction with the Girls' Flag Football championship.  The FHSAA decided to go with a paired arrangement for the two sports this year to see if attendance would be boosted as well as to try to reduce total costs. The contracts have been signed off by the Palm Beach County School Board and has been sent to Gainesville for final review and sources indicate that it is pretty much a done deal.  Final announcements will hopefully come this week.     Boca Raton High is a located just off the Glades Road exit on I-95, making it easily accessible and there are multiple hotels and restaurants within a mile of ...

District Preview Questionnaires Going Out This Week!

Last season many of our readers will remember that we were not able to put together the District Preview series that has proven so popular each year for the Boys' teams.  We want to make sure that doesn't happen again this year and are reaching out to our readership to help us get back on track! First, I know that we are not going to be able to do this for the Girls' teams too but we are still at a point in our growth where resources are limited so please understand our political incorrectness and we hope to find the person in the future who can help to fill in our gap on the Girls' side . . . there are about 190 varsity Boys' teams playing this year over 32 Districts and I only have so many hours to dedicate to this. We have prepared the Questionnaire to send out and we ar...
