via Tampa Lax Report   Author's Note:  Our friends at Tampa Lax Report have posted an article on some BIG changes in Hillsborough County!  Long time readers know that I've been wishing for Hillsborough County to loosen the reins on the way they run the programs through HALAX and it looks like they finally have! For those who are new to this HALAX is the Hillsborough County Lacrosse Alliance and they basically ran lacrosse across all the public schools in the County.  HALAX would raise money for all the public schools in the County even if they had not offered the sport before.  The private schools did not join the Alliance.  The schools and their teams would charge the players a fee for the season and that money would then help to subsidized those schools that could n...

Author's Note: As long-time readers and podcast listeners know I've spent a good deal of time and words chronicling the rise of the Immokalee program and their coach Scott Rickard as they bring the great sport of ours to a community that faced unique challenges in building their program.  This is not a silver spoon community and they have worked hard to get to where they have built a competitive team.   I’ve been in contact with Coach Rickard since the day before the storm arrived. They took a direct hit from Irma, and are now dealing with destroyed homes and significant challenges. He has requested gift cards to local stores so that while his families and players are dealing with the aftermath of the storm, they might be able to buy food and supplies necessary to sustain ...

via IL.Com   Excerpt: Topping the list of top sophomores is Brennan O'Neill, an attackman from St. Anthony's (N.Y.) who is committed to Penn State. On March 18, 2016, Brennan O’Neill’s commitment to Penn State went public. His was the first eighth grade commitment in men’s lacrosse. A little more than a year later, the NCAA had implemented rule changes intended to eliminate the possibility of a player ever committing that early again. O’Neill represents both sides of the early recruiting debate. On one hand, news about his commitment spread quickly. O’Neill had already made a name for himself with his performance at the 2015 Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse, in which he led Team 91 Crush to a championship, and so lacrosse fans were excited to find out where h...

via IL.com   Excerpt: Connor Shellenberger, who recently transferred to Bullis (Md.) and is committed to Virginia, is the No. 1 player in the class. The consensus top player among 2019s, Shellenberger’s reputation has only grown since being recognized as the top prospect in the class. He was a top contributor as a ’19 for his D.C. Highlight team at Under Armour weekend, then he put on a show in the Naptown Classic final for Madlax. His shooting prowess is well documented, but he’s improving on an already outstanding profile as an initiator. He tallied 70 goals and 51 assists for St. Anne’s-Belfield in 2017, and he will play for Bullis (Md.) this spring. Read the rest and see the list HERE
