via Tampa press release TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team will start the 2021 season as the top-ranked team in the nation, according to the Nike/US Lacrosse D-II preseason top 20.Last season the Spartans were 8-0 before the season was cut short due to Covid-19. This preseason ranking marks the first time that the Spartans have held the top spot in any ranking.Returning for Tampa will be 2020 Inside Lacrosse Player of the Year, Ross Dickerson, as well as a pair of All-Americans in Jake Mosher-McGraw and Scott PhillipsTampa has now been ranked in every preseason poll since 2014, the team's inaugural season.Click here for the full release.

via US Lacrosse Magazine Ross Dickerson, the Tampa's prolific faceoff specialist, has been named the US Lacrosse Magazine Division II Men’s Preseason Player of the Year.Last season, Dickerson won 118 of 145 faceoff attempts for a blistering 81.4 percent. He recorded 83 ground balls while also contributing one goal and two assists for a Tampa team that finished the season ranked No. 3 in the Nike / US Lacrosse Magazine Division II Men's Top 20.Dickerson projects to finish as the most successful faceoff specialist in NCAA history when factoring in all divisions. His career winning percentage of 76.1 is slightly better than that of Yale's TD Ierlan, who is also a fifth-year senior. Ierlan currently owns a winning percentage of 75.3.
via Tampa press release TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team volunteered this past Saturday at the Inaugural Wounded Warrior Project Golf Outing, held at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club.The men were paired up with a warrior, as they would serve as caddies for 18 holes. via UT press release TAMPA, Fla. – Current University of Tampa men's lacrosse player Ben French was selected by the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League entry draft. French was the 51st overall pick.French will be making his Spartan debut in the spring of 2021 after spending his first four seasons at the University of Vermont. During his career at Vermont, he scored 58 goals which ranked him just outside of the top 10 in program history. In 2019 he earned second-team American East All-Conference honors and was on the America East All-Rookie team in 2017.In the shortened 2020 season, French had seven goals and four assists in four games played.
