  In my continuing quest to be more proactive on the college scene there's some interesting news to report on one of our Florida colleges. Jacksonville has received votes for the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Top 20, finishing at 22 for the week!  The Dolphins are 2-1 on the season with their only loss to #13 Michigan by 2 goals.  Jenny Kinsey and Sarah Elms lead the team with 11 goals each in the 3 games. LINK to the poll   The Tampa Women fell to Lindenwood on Tuesday.  Lindenwood rose to #1 in that very same poll for D2 Women and proved it with the 11-5 win in Tampa.   via MCLA press release   ATLANTA – After a superior effort in a setback to MCLA Division I Florida, North Florida freshman netminder Glenn Mandel earned MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 2. At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Mandel fills up the cage and he did just that against the heavily favored Gators.   via MCLA press releases   D-I Preseason Poll: Gamecocks Rolling ATLANTA – After winning its first MCLA Division I national championship last spring, South Carolina has been installed as the favorite in the 2020 New Balance Division I Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Wednesday. The Gamecocks (21-2 in 2019) captured 19 of the 24 first-place votes to retain a 14-point edge over their closest competition. South Carolina will open the season in Baton Rouge, La., with games against No. 25 LSU (7-8) and Texas A&M (2-0 in 2020). California (17-1), which fell to South Carolina in the 2019 title game, is comfortably in second place.   via MCLA press release   ATLANTA – After finishing as the runner-up in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference Division II tournament, Kennesaw State has been tabbed the favorite in 2020, according to the preseason coaches poll. The Owls (10-4), who made their sixth appearance at nationals last spring, are nine points clear of UNC-Charlotte (9-5) for the top spot. Kennesaw grabbed six of the 10 first-place votes while the 49ers snagged two. Wake Forest (5-4), which has qualified for the SELC tournament the last two seasons, was slotted third. Florida Gulf Coast (6-6), which had a first-place vote, was 10 points behind the Demon Deacons in fourth place.
