Tampa Women: #10 Spartans Defeat Young Harris Mountain Lions 24-7

  via Tampa press release   BOX SCORE   MARIETTA, Ga. –The No. 10 University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team defeated the Young Harris College Mountain Lions by a final score of 24-7.  1st Half
  • The Spartans were the first team on the board with a goal from Rachel Crawford.
  • However, two minutes later the Mountain Lions answered, tying the game at one.
  • UT then went on a 10 point scoring run.
  • The first two of the ten points were scored by LIzzie PierpontHear how to pronounce LIzzie Pierpont and Carly VaccaroHear how to pronounce Carly Vaccaro respectively. Both goals were assisted by Crawford.
  • Vaccaro then scored again, this time off the assist by Kayla KosubinskyHear how to pronounce Kayla Kosubinsky.
  • With 16:54 left in the half, Claire Swanson scored an unassisted goal for the Spartans.
  • Three of the next four goals were scored by Kristyn StaleyHear how to pronounce Kristyn Staley. The one that wasn’t scored by Staley was netted by Caroline ForesterHear how to pronounce Caroline Forester.
  • Vaccaro then netted Tampa’s 10thand 11thgoal, both off the pass by Crawford.
  • Finally, Yong Harris scored to decrease the Spartans lead to 11-2.
  • The last goal of the first half was an unassisted goal by Kayla KosubinskyHear how to pronounce Kayla Kosubinsky.
  • Heading into halftime, the Spartans were leading the Mountain Lions 12-2.
  2nd Half
  • To start the second half, Young Harris was the first team on the board.
  • Tampa answered with a goal from Swanson.
  • Young Harris and Tampa then traded goals. For the Spartans, Crawford, and Maggie Gladden scored. Gladden earned two goals one off the assist by Lauren McNeill.
  • With 16:08 left the play, senior Megan SengelmannHear how to pronounce Megan Sengelmann netted a goal off the pass by Gladden.
  • The Spartans then scored the next seven goals to end the contest. 24-7.
  • Hannah Bush logged the first off the pass by Kosubinsky.
  • Gladden earned two of the seven, the first was from a pass by Sengelmann.
  • Pierpontstated another goal of the assist by Bush.
  • Claire Swanson recorded two more points, one from an unassisted goal, the other by assisting Vaccaro.
  • Finally, Caroline ForesterHear how to pronounce Caroline Forester netted a goal off the pass by Bonnie SopherHear how to pronounce Bonnie Sopher.
  • The No. 10 University of Tampa Spartans defeated the Young Harris College Mountain Lions by a final score of 24-7.

  • Following Vaccaro‘s efforts on offense was that of Maggie Gladden with four goals and one assist.
