2014 Inaugural SSC Men’s Lacrosse Championship Set to Begin Saturday

WINTER PARK, Fla. (Men’s Lacrosse) – The pairings for the 2014 Inaugural Sunshine State Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship have been solidified. The first-ever conference tournament will begin on Saturday, April 19 with the semifinal round and will conclude on Saturday, April 26 with the championship game. No. 6 Tampa (13-2, 5-0 SSC) won the first conference regular-season title with a clean sweep of the other five conference opponents. The Spartans won the title and secured the No. 1 overall seed at the 2014 tournament with their 19-5 win over Lynn on April 12. The Spartans will host No. 4 Rollins (6-8, 2-3 SSC) on Saturday, April 19 in Tampa at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available onwww.tampaspartans.com. The Tars fell to Saint Leo in the regular-season finale Tuesday night by a score of 11-7 to earn the fourth and finale seed in this year’s tournament. Tampa beat Rollins by a score of 13-8 back on April 9 in a regular-season conference game. No. 10 Florida Southern (10-3, 4-1 SSC) finished second in the league standings and will serve as the No. 2 seed in this year’s tournament. The Moccasins will host No. 3 Saint Leo (8-6, 3-2 SSC) on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available on www.fscmocs.com. The Lions defeated Rollins in the regular-season finale to earn the third seed. On April 5, Florida Southern edged Saint Leo by a score of 11-10 in overtime in their regular-season conference game. The winners will play for the Inaugural SSC Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, April 26 at the highest remaining seed’s home field. Time is to be determined.
