How long have you been playing lacrosse and who has had the biggest role in your successes?

I have only been playing lacrosse for two years, this year being my second school season. My biggest influences have been my travel coach Sarah Burlingame (Coach Gooey) and Coach Jim Hill. Coach Gooey has always been available to help me whenever I needed it. She really stuck with me for the whole recruiting process knowing that I could make it at a high level and play for a school that I really wanted to attend. Coach hill has been the main reason that I started lacrosse. He helped me through my whole career and was really persistent about me playing. I use to run track, yet he convinced me to make the switch over to lacrosse; he never gave up on me.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as a lacrosse player?

Definitely committing to University of Louisville. For only been playing two years and being able to get recruited to a really high Division 1 school, I feel it’s the biggest accomplishment I could make.

What are your goals for this season?

My goals are to make myself more versatile as a player and available to every aspect of the game. I want to use smart Lax IQ, making the best decisions while playing and assisting my team in playing together.

How do you think your team will perform for the remainder of this year?

My team is extremely young; though we have a lot of athletic players. We’re teaching them the game and they’re learning very fast. I definitely think that we’re going to keep doing well.

What was it about Louisville that appealed to you the most?

The coaching staff, the players and the atmosphere. The coaches are amazing. I knew if I committed there everything would change. I would be the best player I could be because they would challenge me and help me. I also liked the atmosphere. It’s all athletes and that’s what I love to be surrounded by. There is so much school spirit and everyone is super involved; I couldn’t be more excited.

What was your favorite and least favorite part of the recruiting process?

My least favorite part was the fact that it’s unknown. I didn’t know what could happen, or which colleges were interested and which weren’t. I enjoyed finally knowing that there were at least two colleges that were super interested in me, and that I was definitely going somewhere. I also knew that there were so many great colleges with lacrosse; my options on where I could go were not limited as long as I put the effort into it.

Was the recruiting process what you expected?

Not at all! It was very challenging and time consuming, but it ended up paying off and ultimately being better than what I expected!

Any advice for upcoming recruits?

Definitely email colleges. If you’re in them interested, keep emailing until they definitely know your name. Another thing is don’t get frustrated. There are so many different options out there and if you stick to lacrosse and have a good attitude about it, I guarantee that you will go somewhere.

Favorite lacrosse memory?

When we beat South Plantation three weeks ago. After losing 6 of our players to injuries during the game, we won in double overtime. It proved that just because we didn’t have our main players on the field we could still win as long as we played as a team.
