Above – Kaitlyn Dooley and Ana Browne Clearwater, FL. -On a swampy field and under constant drizzle on Saturday afternoon, Barron Collier beat last year’s PAISAA State Finalist Friend’s Central by a score of 15-11. Expected to come out tied in the game, the Cougars jumped out to an early lead and stayed in control for the entire game. Barron led 10-3 at the half, but Friends made several three goal runs in the second led by Brown commit Emma Dahle (5G). Eight second half saves from senior Jessica McClugage, and inspired play from Mel Guitard, Emily Franklin and the rest of the defensive unit kept Friends from gaining any real momentum. Sierra Luciano repeatedly came up strong on the draw for the Cougars. On the attacking end the Cougars managed their possessions well as the second half came to a close, with good ball movement and rapid tempo changes leading to some great close goals. Offensive stats for the Lady Cougars: Claudia Lenart – 4G/1A, Olivia Ferrucci – 3G/3A, Kaitlyn Dooley – 2G/3A, Kacie Frost – 2G/1A, Emily Brown – 2G and 6DC, Jo Imbriani 1G, Jacklyn Berry – 1G. With the win, The Cougars improve to 12-3. Barron finishes up its Collier County game slate Tuesday evening against Golden Gate High School.
