STA’s Jenna Tolzmann to Iona

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Jenna Tolzmann of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale committed play D1 Lacrosse at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. Born an athlete, she was an excellent flag football player, wakeboarder, runner in both track and cross country and then found her passion with Lacrosse. She has played lacrosse for just 4 years, starting in her freshman year and also played on travel teams with Storm, High Tide, Fan Favorites, Lax Maniax and Extreme. It was at her 8th grade athletic banquet when the coach was announcing the MVP, that he told the school this girl would be playing lacrosse in college. She had never seen or heard of it. When telling him later, “coach I don’t play lacrosse” he replied, “oh you will!” She plans to study sports medicine and physical therapy but is also interested in teaching and coaching. She is a leader and co-captain of the Lady Raiders and a mentor to the other girls and loves to see them learn and excel. She is excited to graduate HS in May and prepare for the move to NY for her freshman year. Thanks go out to her many coaches over the years, Coach Gurtov, Eileen Pliske, Ivy Warren, Troy Millican, Mark Geddis, Sarah and Trey Burlingame.
