Above – Matt Hobdan scored four goals in the upset win over STA Barron Collier gets that signature win over St. Thomas Aquinas 10-6. The word on the street was that Barron Collier needed a “signature” win to make believers out of the rest of the state. Tonight powered by a swarming defense and fluid offense, BC picked up a solid victory over a banged up STA. Matt Hobdan scored 4 times to lead the Cougars and 8 players picked up points as the high tempo offense kept the Raiders potent man man defense working hard all night. Both clubs moved the ball well in transition and the 50/50 ground balls were very even. Both Goalies made great saves all night. Terry Crowley’s played with a great deal of passion and effort despite being down so many top quality players. Barron’s Web like Zone D kept the young Raider attackers on their heels much of the night. It was a great night of lacrosse in Naples. One where Barron Collier made a statement that they were for real and the one goal loss to Jupiter was no fluke.  The win prompted Tony Lowe (@tlowe12) to tweet “Barron Collier is for real.” Look for these teams to improve as the year moves forward and perhaps see each other again in the South Region Quarterfinals with a trip to IMG on the line. Barron’s JV also won 5-4 in the earlier contest.
