Partnership with East Broward Bull Sharks Youth League Enhances Lacrosse in Tri-County Area McLean, VA. March 4, 2014 – Madlax, Inc. announced a new lacrosse program in southeast Florida and a partnership with the East Broward Bull Sharks Youth League today further enhancing its well-known national lacrosse all-star program and brand while helping grow the quality of the game of lacrosse nationally.  Madlax-Florida, which currently operates lacrosse programs in southwest Florida, will expand operations to the greater Fort Lauderdale area with the intention of drawing boys ages 7-18 from the entire Tri-County region (Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, Broward). The new program will be called Madlax-SoFlo to differentiate itself from the existing Madlax-Florida program. Madlax-SoFlo joins Madlax-Capital, Madlax-Florida and Madlax-California as regional lacrosse efforts that make up the Madlax National All-Star Program.

Madlax-SoFlo All-Stars are now able to ‘guest play’ anytime on any Madlax All-Star Teams and the top SoFlo players can be nominated and play for Madlax National Teams, considered some of the most competitive teams in the US. SoFlo players can guest play with Madlax-Florida in state tournaments or travel to the DC area and guest play on Madlax-Capital teams in the summer and fall.  It is widely known that lacrosse is exploding on the southeast coast of Florida and there are many talented players so it makes perfect sense for Madlax-Florida to take its brand and expertise to the area so it can teach the more talented boys and give them opportunities they may not have ever had before. Madlax-Florida plans to create new camps and clinics in the Fort Lauderdale region. Madlax-Florida already runs a tournament called the Gulf Coast Classic, which the SoFlo will attend as well. David Scully, the East Broward Bull Sharks Youth President, adds, “The East Broward Bull Sharks are proud to be affiliated with Madlax and specifically its new team Madlax–SoFlo.  Madlax has a reputation of providing its players with the best opportunity to grow as both young men and lacrosse players.  We anticipate this partnership to be beneficial for everyone involved–East Broward Bull Sharks, Madlax and the Tri-County lacrosse community.” Madlax Founder, Cabell Maddux, inserts, “We want to foster a positive relationship with the Bull Sharks directors and coaches in this new and exciting partnership. David has started a great youth program and we hope to guide him and his staff so they can elevate the level of lacrosse and grow the sheer quantity of players in the Fort Lauderdale community.  Madlax will share our resources; trained coaches and carefully scripted practice plans that have meaningful and fun drills, an up-tempo teaching style and our CASE initiative all worked in. This approach will improve the rate at which skills improves in boys. I have seen it work in the DC area and it has been an advantage for Madlax-Capital players and soon will be so for Madlax-SoFlo.” Trent Carter, Madlax-Florida Co-Founder and Director will also lead the SoFlo program. Trent is the head coach at Barron Collier, a top 10 boys varsity program in the state of Florida out of Naples. A former standout at Boys Latin High School in Baltimore and 2-time National Champion at Hobart College, he is recognized as one of the best coaches in the state compiling a 34-8 record in just over two seasons. “I am excited to expand the Madlax brand to the East Coast of Florida. Our model is unique enabling our players to play on various levels of Madlax teams up north as well as the opportunity to be nominated for our National Team.  We truly cover the different skill sets and desires of each individual player in a unified model. “ Trent Carter and Cabell Maddux have a vision to grow the quality of lacrosse in Florida and want to share their passion for the game with the youth in the state.  Through all-star travel teams, clinics, camps and tournaments boys will get better and have fun. They will learn to ‘do the right thing’ on and off the field and that point is driven home as their unique C.A.S.E. program proves. David Scully comments, “The passion that the Madlax staff has for youth lacrosse is second to none.  As a member of the Madlax lacrosse family, you know that the coaches will do everything that they can to make you a better lacrosse player on the field and a better person off the field.  This is one of the tenets of the East Broward Bull Sharks – be great on the field as well as off the field.  The partnership seemed like a natural fit, and we are looking forward to the benefits of the relationship.” As athletes in the Tri-County area take up the sport they will now have an incredible opportunity to elevate their game through Madlax-SoFlo.  Tryouts in the upcoming weeks will mark the official start of this new all-star travel program. Interested players and parents should visit www.Madlax.com/florida and register for tryouts today. Teams will compete in 2-4 tournaments the summer of 2014 and grow as the region allows.  It is all exciting and a great time to be a boy between ages 7-18 in southeast Florida. David Scully finishes, “The recent growth of lacrosse in Florida, specifically in Broward County, has been astronomical.  As more and more high schools in the area begin to offer lacrosse as a varsity sport, it only makes sense to provide the boys in the area with the proper tools to flourish in the sport.  Madlax provides the right environment for the boys to grow as lacrosse players so they can flourish at the next level.” About Madlax Since 1996 Madlax, headquartered in McLean, Virginia outside Washington, DC, has been one of the nation’s premier lacrosse companies.
