Ponte Vedra Goes to 2-0 In District Play

On Monday night Ponte Vedra played their 2nd district game in a row, traveling to Nease for the match-up. Celebrating his birthday in style, Junior Eric Applegate scored just 27 seconds into the game. Nease junior goalie Kent Norris came up with several big saves. With a 4-2 lead, the Sharks offense came out firing in the 2nd quarter with two goals from Jason Randolph and Garrett Boyle. RJ Garcia added one to stretch the lead to 9-3. The Sharks defense stymied Nease with great efforts from Parker Eastland, Patrick Lynch, Augie Relihan and Nick Nehrling. Eric Weiner also contributed with several ground balls. Applegate started the third quarter with his third goal of the night. The scoring paced slowed down a bit in this quarter with Boyle and Logan Taucher adding goals. Boyle had a big game, adding his fourth and final goal in the 4th quarter and also was credited for two assists. Randolph rounded out the scoring with a hat trick. Goalie Colin Peaks had 3 saves. Final PV 15, Nease 6. PV improves to 4 and 1 and will face Greenville, SC on Friday night at home. Nease drops to 5 and 2.
