Tampa Jesuit Rolls to a 15-5 Win on Monday in Season Opener

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Tampa Jesuit opened their season on a winning note, handling Wharton 15-5 on Monday night at home, before a raucous crowd.  The TJ administration came through with an innovative idea in allowing all lacrosse players in the two districts (15 and 16) to attend for free!  And attend they did. This is Wharton’s first appearance as an FHSAA member, as many of the Hillsborough public schools have made the leap this year. Tampa Jesuit is led by new head coach Brian Lemon, a long-time Vice President of Operations for NLL, once again showing the appeal of coaching in this state to those who have been around this sport in a senior capacity. Jesuit controlled possession thanks to the play of Noah Menendez (Tampa commit) in the face-off circle.  Menendez chipped in 2 goals as well.  Other leading scorers for TJ were Stephano Mastro, with 3G/2A, Austin Curtis (3G/1A) and Jackson Parisey (2G).  A total of 9 players scored for TJ as the team was able to show great balance throughout the lineup. Wharton’s leading scorers were Nate Bleckley and Mark Munoz with 2 goals apiece. Jesuit is back in action this weekend with a home game against Berkeley Prep before traveling Saturday to face a stern test in Lake Mary.  Wharton is back in action Thursday, traveling to Robinson. Thanks to Stephanie Mastro for the game recap and information and for providing the photo!
