Ponte Vedra Dominant In District Opener Victory Over Bartram Trail

Ponte Vedra was too much for District 5 opponent Bartram Trail. The Sharks hosted the Bears for their District opener finishing with a convincing 13-1 win. Ponte Vedra improves their season record to 4-1 and Bartram Trail is even at 1-1. With the Sharks leading by a score of 4-0 at the half, the game could have gone either way. The Sharks turned up the pressure increasing their lead to 10-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The defense, led by Nick Buckley, Fischer Anderson, Alex Filippi and Parker Eastland and anchored by goalie Ryan Applegate (9 saves), held the Bears scoreless until under six minutes remaining in the game. Leading the Sharks in scoring were Cody Legeza with 4 goals and 1 assist, Garrett Boyle with 3 goals and 1 assist and Scott Applegate with 1 goal and 4 assists. Ponte Vedra faces District 5 opponent Nease at home next Tuesday.
