Coral Shores alumni defender and former team captain Ryan Bahn has made the Division-1, Golden Griffin’s lacrosse team at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Bahn was allowed a walk-on tryout and impressed the Canisius coaches enough to secure himself a red-shirt freshman spot on the team. Ryan was a stand-out defender and LSM at Coral Shores High School in the Florida Keys before attending Canisius. He lettered in Varsity lacrosse all four years while at Coral Shores. In his junior and seniors seasons at Coral Shores, Ryan picked-up 129 ground balls and scored 9 goals as a defender and was named to the South Florida All District 1st Team. QUOTES: “Going to Canisius is the best decision I have ever made. The coaching staff is so knowledgeable, and my teammates are my extended family. I am really looking forward to a great season!” Ryan Bahn. “We are all very happy for Ryan and the success he’s having up at Canisius. I wasn’t surprised that he made the team though; he’s a great player who dedicated himself this off-season in the weight room and on the wall to playing at that level. I’m most impressed with his success in the classroom, Canisius is a very demanding academic environment, that coupled with the demands of being a Division 1 student athlete can be really challenging. As far as Lacrosse goes; they’ll be playing the defending National Champions, top 5 teams, top 10 teams, so they better hydrate, but Randy’s an incredible coach and a better person, they’ll be ready to defend the MAAC Championship.”  Barnaby Rich, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach, Coral Shores High School. “We are real excited to have Ryan be a part of the Golden Griffin program. He is a skilled student athlete that has set some very high goals for himself in the classroom and on the field. He’s a tireless worker; he’s a person of character; he’s dedicated and committed. What makes me smile is that I know he is going to reach those goals. He’s got that special something called drive and work ethic.” Randy Mearns, Head Coach Men’s Lacrosse, Canisius College
